Pension credit after state pension

Hello, My husband was in receipt of pension credit, now I am receiving my state pension we are no longer eligible and it has been stopped. We are now just £4 better off but lose out on so many other things like help with hospital travel costs etc. Will we miss out on winter fuel and severe weather payments as well?

You will still get the Winter Fuel Payment - all people over the female state pension age get this.
The cold weather payment is only for people receiving income support or pension credit so it seems as though you wont.
If your joint income is above the pension credit level then, no, you don't qualify.
The fact that it is "only" £4 better off (per week?) makes no difference - above is above.0 -

But you only get one wfp even if you both qualify.
If you qualify for wfp, then you qualify for a severe weather psyment, but again only one of you even if you both qualify. And I presume that when you refer to severe weather payments you mean when the temperature drops below a set value for a set number of consecutive days.

Sorry, I don't believe you're right here - greenglide has it correct.
The winter fuel payment is for every household with someone over women's state pension age, but severe weather payments are only for those on certain means tested benefits such as pension credit.0 -

You are correct, yes. My mum gets pension credit and she gets the severe weather payment when applicable, whereas hubby gets winter fuel payment only as not on benefits.0 -

My wife got an extra payment in 2010 due very cold spell, and she does not get or qualify for pension credit.
That was a cold/severe weather payment.
So who's right then?

Cold weather payments are only payable to those on certain means tested benefits ie pension credit which is £25. Winter fuel is payable to those over woman's state pension age.

It was in that cold snap we had in 2010, couldn't get to work for a week, but I cannot recall how much she got. I will see if she kept a record and update this tomorrow.

Was that not one of the times when the regular winter fuel payment was used to pay a "bribe" to dig the government out of yet another hole? This was used following at least one mistake in the budget which impacted pensioners more than most other groups. It was in that cold snap we had in 2010, couldn't get to work for a week, but I cannot recall how much she got. I will see if she kept a record and update this tomorrow.
The description of the winter fuel payment in the payment letter also gets very grand at times as well.
The cold weather payment which is paid on a post code basis when local temperature has consistently been below a certain level is only paid, as stated to recipients of certain means tested benefits including pension credit. Nobody who isn't in receipt of these benefits can get it.0 -

Not exactly - see https://www.gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment/what-youll-get

Thanks for your replies, its more the help with other things like the hospital appointments, I am currently going to three hospitals, one monthly, and two every three months, all involving train journeys costing, £9, £11, and £19 a time. I used to get this reimbursed, also have to pay some council tax now, so it all adds up, for just four extra pounds.0
