It had previously been announced that branches at Buncrana Road in Londonderry and Belfast's Boucher Road were to close.
Now it has been confirmed that branches at Sprucefield, Ballymena and Craigavon will also shut.
B&Q confirmed later on Tuesday that about 300 jobs would be affected.

Thats bad. I heard that last night.
They seem to be concentrating on the ScrewFix brand smaller stores.0 -

Isn't Screwfix owned by B&Q? Screwfix have actually not long ago opened up stores near some of the B&Q stores which are closing. Seems strange to set up in competition to their own stores nearby.0

Yes, both owned by Kingfisher Plc.0 -
Which also owned woolworths which went down a few years ago.
The first time I went to b&q in craigavon it was for weed killer. Next to the pathclear was an untouched row of mole repellent.

It all depends on what you get. Many of their building items are cheaper than what the builder's merchants charge. Smaller items like nuts and bolts can be expensive.
I suppose they have depended on customers who want to do a one-stop shop who perhaps want to put up shelves and buy the good value items like melamine coated boarding but also buy the expensive brackets and screws There are not many people nowadays who can do that these days and most people will shop around different stores rather than do one-shop shopping .0
