Old bankruptcy and pensions

Hi
I'm new here and hope someone can help!
My dad made himself bankrupt in the 90s. We lost loads but one thing was a pension he had at the time that they took. PWC dealt with the whole thing at the time.
Now he is over 65, the pension has matured and he has now received a letter from a law firm wanting details of other pensions he may have had at the time (he replied to this letter) and now they also want his national insurance number.
We have been told to treat this as a matter of urgency. I can only presume they can't get the pension money!?
I know we owed money but we lost a lot and paid a lot out for years and it affected everything. We also never really got a summary of what we owed and what we re-paid. Seems totally unfair to take a pension in the first place and to now be pestering and stressing my dad out.
Should we send the NI number? I don't know if it is dodgy or not!
Thanks
Lisa

Hi,
For bankruptcies that happened before May 29th 2000 pensions were not exempt as assets in bankruptcy.
Sadly, those who were bankrupt before this time continue to be contacted by the trustee (I wonder if it is Wragg and co?) to realise these pensions.
I'm afraid that the vtrustee has a right to the whole pension and any other private pensions.
State or occupational pensions are beyond reach of the trustee.

Great, thanks for this. I am pleased about the change!
Yes, I know the pension is theirs, we don't want it. it just doesn't sit well with me that they want his personal info. So basically, do you think we just send it to them?
I just want them to leave us alone, already two letters in and they are asking about other pensions that are none of their business!
Yes, it is Wragge and co!
Thanks

I agree with your thoughts on claiming pensions so long after bankruptcy, but unfortunately it is their business to search for any other available pensions (only pensions set up prior to 29th May 2000).
Best give them what they want - the sooner done, the sooner they will be gone.
Wragg & Co seemed to be the main appointed agent in the recovery of these old pensions.
