In 2011 we had solar panels fitted by PLENITUDE SOLAR trading as NSA Solar.
Within a year we heard that they had ceased trading and been dissolved.
In an attempt to try to find who owns / is responsible for the panels we removed the sim card that reports back to base to see who shouted. Nobody has.
My question is. If nobody owns the panels or is claiming the revenue, is there a procedure whereby we can take them over ourselves?
many thanks

You could certainly try writing to the Official Receiver to ask about making an offer for them.In 2011 we had solar panels fitted by PLENITUDE SOLAR trading as NSA Solar.

But I'm doubtful if you could start claiming FIT payments for them as there probably isn't anyone who could authorise the change of payee (but it won't cost anything to ask the Receiver) and you can't make a new claim for secondhand panels.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -
Hi
I find it odd that the administrator wouldn't have assessed the value of assets and looked to either offer to sell installations as consolidated parcels to another operator or directly to homeowners, after-all, they have an obligation to return as much value as possible to creditors ....

Plenty of the RAR firms had a provision for the house owner to purchase the PV system after X years; and in that case it wouldn't be a new claim.
Would not MCS have a register of the addresses where FIT claims were registered?
I would have thought it highly likely that PLENITUDE SOLAR/ NSA Solar would have sold their assets(i.e. RAR solar systems they had fitted) to a 3rd/4th/5th party before filing for bankruptcy. Then they could declare they had no assets.
With small firms there is a limit to the level of investigation the Receiver will carry out.
In the days of solar thermal firms regularly went bankrupt and restarted the next day with a different name. Ask any Trading Standards Office - particularly in the Dorset area.0 -
Hi there, I'm having a similar problem to yourself, same company to start off with which has turned into numerous company's that have all been shut down and renamed

Post#7 above gives the information on MCS.
Because solar PV installations attract subsidies the regulations insisted that all installers had to be certified by MCS and installations registered.
The idea was also to ensure that Registration would ensure professional standards would be applied to the 'industry'.
Some hope! It didn't take long for the cowboys to enter the field, as you can see from many posts on MSE, with practices that would make double glazing salesmen blush.0 -
When did you remove the sim? Data problems on these systems are common.
A company search confirms they have been dissolved but the last address tags with a law firm in Birmingham who deal with insolvency (along with other things though). Perhaps try that Contact?0 -
I will do as you suggest, Thanks0

Back in 2012 I used to work for an investment firm specialising in acquiring portfolios of rent a roof installations and sad to say I'm very familiar with NSA solar.
I did the due diligence on a portfolio we acquired, I would hazard a guess that the OP's install was probably one of the installs, only to establish the installs were not owned by NSA in the first place and they had no right to sell it on. If my memory serves me, the physical kit installed was purchased by a developer with the view NSA would install a portfolio for them. NSA then went on to re-sell the portfolio once installed.
After the transaction NSA Solar ceased trading and started up under a new name to try and dodge the liabilities. This didn't work too well as Paul Ward, director of NSA has been banned from operating as a business director for 7 years as a direct result. As a new user I can't post a link but search for "Director of Leicester solar panel company disqualified for seven years" to find the .gov press release.
Doesn't help you in the short term I'm afraid but sorry to hear that this issue is still on-going0
