    Thank you folks

If I did not meet the QTS criteria, I was not told in spite of my efforts to see the Head, feedback from Ofsted was good.

I know QTS is not automatic but I think I met all the requirements.

The union was again in touch with the Board of Governors and Head in a June 2007 and there has been no response... stonewalled.

Thank you for your comments re Industrial Tribunal et al. I shall certainly put my case formally to the Board/Head/Director of Education before going to the Tribunal ...that is, if the union abandons me.

Perhaps you should seek a meeting with the head to discuss this first rather than go for a more serious stance? You talk about him not responding - why is this - he must have said something to you when you kept reminding him?

'think' is not good enough though - performance is always a difficult thing to measure. Do you not have performance feedback from the head as a matter of course?

He is alive isn't he?:rotfl: Why doesn't he respond?

I would think very seriously about your future career if you go to a tribunal over this as it is so arguable. It isn't a cut and dried case and maybe they would just argue that you weren't experienced enough to warrant the move to the upper scale. You can't prove that your performance warranted moving you up (unless you have some evidence that you haven't mentioned).
If you intend to stay in education it probably isn't the best way to handle the situation.

    .

Just to say I would not rely on this Ofsted feedback to back your claim - unless everyone of the lessons assessed at the school received the same good grade. Feedback to the headteacher is supposed to be anonymous as far as which member of staff is being reported on - and feedback given direct to teachers after an observation is usually of the "sandwich" type - positive, possible area for improvement, positive comment.

    Thank you all for replying
I have tried on numerous occasions to see the Head on different matters. Appointments are cancelled either because he has to meet a parent or some other excuse such as he is not in the office. The secretary then tells me that she is going to make an apointment but he never does. On one occasion I rang the secretary and reminded her that the Head was to see me and I wanted to see him now. She came back and said that he would not see me. I went anyway to see him for a brief meeting. On another occasion, he saw me on the 7th day of a 7 day ultimatum issued by the union regarding my Threshold application submitted four months earlier.
Sorry I used the word "think". I should have said "I know".
As for career in teaching, it is my intention to leave teaching if this case gets as far as the Industrial Tribunal (irrespective of the outcome).

May I explain that it is a requirement of Threshold Aplication that the Head explains in some detail in writing why the application was refused. I had none of these
