Work with a broken hand

hi, just wondered what your thoughts are.

I broke my hand on Saturday and I've been told not to go in to work by the Hospital. I work in care, so there are elements of risk I guess. But I feel like a bit of a fraud, as i'm not sick as such.

I have thought about lighter duties, but cant really think of any that I could do.

I am a lone worker.

Have you ever been in this situation, how does it work with insurance etc.

Unfortunately I only get SSP.

Thanks for reading

As long as you have a fit note, which you will need to get to your employer the day it is issued.
Once this has been issued you can not go to work, as you will no be insured
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Are you insured for breaking your hand? Normally income protection insurance doesn't kick in for three months.

If you broke it at work you might be insured there.

I suppose you could try a reverse PPI: you were mis-not sold insurance.
  • You may not be insured to drive if this is part of your job
