Motability car

I have filled in the stepchange form and the advice was either a payment plan which would take me 9 years to pay off, or bankruptcy. I am disabled and on benefits.
I owe 27,000 and at the moment don't know which option to take for the best....I feel a bit numb tbh that I have got myself into this total mess.
I have been reading about bankruptcy and it says you can only keep a car if it's worth a certain amount, I am wondering how this would effect my Motability car as it obviously isn't owned by me, just paid for by my mobility allowance.

Hello Daisy,
My husband has a motability car and knowing how these are financed, I can absolutely not see how this can be taken off you. Your MLA (which is not a benefit, it's an allowance) is given to you because you have been assessed to have reduced mobility at the higher rate. The intension is that this allowance is used by you in order to improve your ability to get around and thus, get employment if you are in a position to do so, if not, it is to assist you to attend clinics and so on. Beyond that, as you say, you do not own the car, Motability does. I think you have nothing to worry about.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

As said the car is leased I dont think they can take car from you your pip/dla award is there to improve your social mobility, therefore that money should be set ignored0

The OR has no interest in and cannot interfere with a motability vehicle entitlement or lease.

I can confirm Fermi's post as I too am a mobility user due to my injuries on duty and I was awarded the higher mobility etc. I suffer from PTSD and this is how I ended up bankrupt and losing my family. I was treated with the utmost kindness by the OR (Not so by the IP)
i was allowed to keep my vehicle and carers allowance. It was never taken into account, my service pension was looked at but not touched. 84days left until my 6yrs are up....cant wait.
Good luckI love green dots :T I hate red dots :mad:0
