You need to be thinking about solving the issue coming up next year, rather than worrying about a product switch today.
What is the plan when the mortgage ends? Can you cover the shortfall on the endowment.
For the record, no lender is going to do you a re-mortgage based on a 12 or 24 months mortgage term.
Did you switch to a new rate in 2014? Was this gap not considered then?
My likely solution is to take a re-mortgage on perhaps a 10 year term with a two year rate, or no ERP product. Your age may dictate what is possible on that basis.I am a Mortgage Broker
