To be honest, I'm not really sure.
Hadn't seen a doctor for 5 years before this happened, and discovered my doctor had left, the surgery had moved to a different location and the entire appointment booking system had changed.
I read on the website that you have to be triaged over the phone if you want an emergency appointment!

I'll see what the HR guy suggests tomorrow and call the surgery to see if they think it's ok.
Still think it's not right to try to make you work when you have a genuine Not Fit For Work note, and not just an 'Only Fit For Certain Tasks' note.

I started a job as night replenishment staff member at a supermarket. At the time I had a really bad back and knees for some reason. I also didn't sleep for 2 days before. I pushed through the shift in pain and when I got home I was in massive pain. I couldn't sleep during the day as my family decided to play loud music and play fight with each other. I also had to go out and buy some comfortable shoes as I was wearing smart shoes which killed my feet. Knowing this and having my long shift starting in a few hours, I snapped and contacted HR. Told them my problem and they didn't seem to care. The lady on the phone was just saying 'so you're handing in your resignation?'. Being extremely tired and in pain I just gave up. I wish they offered me a different role like you. I have no idea why I was in so much pain that day but I blame it on the lack of sleep. Literally all my bones were making cracking noises.

I was not fit to work this specific role. Tried to talk to them about it and the answer I got was work or resign..

My GP surgery is like that, it is a nightmare!

Make your employer wait, don't do anything without seeing your GP and if that involves waiting for an appointment, your HR department will have to wait as well!
