The Jessops outlet store in Croydon, have the fabulous Nikon D80 with 18-135mm lens kit (refurb, looked all boxed and new tho) for an amazing £518, this offer might be available at all Jessops outlet stores, might be worth having a look, this is cheapest I've seen this camera go, HTH someone

No image stabilization yet a long zoom lens - most respectable designs have that by now.

I work in one of the 'outlet' (actually clearance) stores. Yes some of them have the D80+135mm lens for that bargain price. I'd have one myself if I had the money :D However be warned any shops that have them probably only have one or two, so get there quick!

(Refurbs are done by Nikon themselves, boxed as new and same guarantee, so no difference to new really :) )

Actually no, image stabilisation generally comes on 'beginner' SLRs, not the more professional kit - ie the Nikon D80, Canon 30D etc are all far more than 'respectable' but don't have it. Nikon and Canon both do image stabilised lenses.

I could manage fine with no stabilization if was willing to carry a decent tripod everywhere. But for most situations I'd choose a built in widget to do this (many reviews show how good these inbuilt systems are getting). Depends on what you are after. Is there an online listing anywhere of what this clearance outlet is offering?

No, everything is 'once its gone its gone', so there is no stock listing or reservation.
  • Do you know if they were selling off accessories like rechargeable batteries/case etc?

Yes theyre selling accessories off as well. Basically its clearance stock only, so batteries for older models, older ranges of cases, etc. Every store has different stock and none of it is particularly organised so you just have to go and have a hunt round really :)

There's a list of the clearance stores here:
    http://www.jessops.com/clearancestores

At the moment cameras/camcorders/binoculars/printers are 30% off, lenses 50%, most accessories 70%, darkroom 70%, studio 50%.
