New mattress advice please

Hi
I've had a trawl through many posts but need a bit of help please.
I'm looking for a new mattress.
Both Mr Fred and myself are very overweight:o
I always sit on the edge when dressing / makeup etc
I like a firm mattress
We currently have a sprung one with memory foam outer, it's a few years old and is now uncomfortable and spreading over base.
Can anyone recommend best mattress solution for us please? Also, can we keep base and just swap mattress or should we replace whole lot?
Thanks

What type of base do you have now and how old is it?
If it's sprung it's needs to go in the bin if 8+ years old.
If it's solid top you need to lift mattress and make sure that it's perfectly flat on top, if dipped then bin again.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Thanks PinkyPants ... Yes, it will need to be dumped in that case.
Any thoughts on mattress too please? Thank you!

You're welcome, mattress wise go for pocket sprung with either hand side stitching or butterfly springs for edge support.
1000 springs or more.
Get in the shops and lie down on some, independent stores if you can.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0
