Do they work or as I suspect do you end up paying out for this kit never to make a penny?

For many yeah, they'll pay out for kits and brochures and not make anything back (or not enough to cover the original costs).
However, some of them won't really have tried. Others may live in an area where no one is interested in the products or there are others already selling there who have their customers loyalty.
Some may put in hours and hours of work and barely break even with costs or make so little that they're working for, for example, 50p an hour.
Sure there are a few making money from it, but probably those further up the pyramid. You'll always get some people saying they sell the products and make decent/good money, but that doesn't mean they actually are (or that you'd consider it good).
There are numerous threads on here about them companies.0 -

As far as I can see half the people on my selling page on facebook do this, and continually spam me with offers of Body Shop parties, or herbal drinks that will make my coeliac disease better, or other such rubbish.
I can't 'unfriend' them fast enough.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yeh I recently got diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I'm waiting to see the comments on how Aloe Vera will resolve this condition, for which there is no current cure.Total Debt Left: £14,843 / £23,954

Firstly, they're not technically pyramid as they are illegal and most do sell an actual product - and I don't wish to get into an argument about it
I sell Younique. I sell it because I love the products, I went for the kit because it was worth the money for the products and I use them all. I now have a nice little customer base who buy from me on a monthly/bi-monthly basis. I love that it is social media based as I'm on Facebook all day and I love that there is no need to buy catalogues/bags/order forms or host parties/go door-to-door.
Yes, I have made my money back and more.
No, I haven't sacked the boss, I never will as I am my own boss doing other work from home. I don't personally earn a monthly income from it because I see it more as a hobby so put a few hours a week into it but I do have people in my upline who make a living doing it.
I tried Avon and failed at that after my first month and I ended owing them money. I was dupped into Ann Summers, there were details/information that was not disclosed to me until AFTER I signed on the dotted line- I dropped that within the week. I was dead against direct sales after that until Younique came along and I spent almost a year watching the company before I joined.0 -

Yep they will, most of the informal coeliac groups ban these people as soon as they start on the 'my cousin's boyfriend's sister worked with someone who had a mother with coeliac who was completely cured after drinking this stuff, or taking these vitamins for just a month. They drive me crazy especially as there will always be one person who actually believes it and signs up for a course costing hundreds.
Sorry to hear about the Crohn's BTW, nasty condition and only trial and error will tell you what works for you food wise (my son has it), really makes me thankful only to have coeliac.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ironically this post is a perfect example of what I was trying to say. A supposedly helpful and positive post that is actually pushing their site and offering advice aka sales through a pm. If people like the OP do sign up to these sort of companies this is what they would be expected to do .
You start out posting to your facebook friends who all quietly dump you, then you find selling sites where ultimately the admin will ban you then you start on sites like MSE or hobby sites where you are likely to get reported.
All for a MLM company with several multi million dollar lawsuits against them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you, at least with coeliac I can control it easily by diet, psoriasis is not so easy to deal with.
I would think psoriasis is seen as an easy target for these pyramid sellers as a lot of them are skin care related. It makes me very nervous that whilst those of us with long term issues can spot the snake oil sellers newly diagnosed people or frantic parents of a newborn baby with any condition might just get sucked in.
I thought it interesting that the post above mine (which may get removed) is a snake oil one from a skin care MLM who have had several multi million dollar lawsuits against them for false advertising , just the sort of thing that we would get on many of my groups from a 'concerned' new member who has stumbled across a great product that really helps her- no doubt you see the same on your groups.
Frankly I would prefer someone to try and flog me fake handbags - which I can just ignore, rather than false hope from a shabby MLM company that is fully aware their claims to health are false, but sucker people into promoting them anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
