Where to buy tinned whole carrots?

Options
I like tins of Tesco whole carrots in water but they disappeared from the shelves about a year ago now and have not returned. I have asked in Tesco about getting them back in stock but they say they are unavailable. They are also unavailable online. They still have the baby carrots in water but I don't think they are so good.

I just wanted to ask if this is the same in the rest of the UK, have they disappeared from your Tesco too? None of the other shops in our town have any brand of whole carrots, only the baby ones, maybe the whole ones have been banned?:D

might be worth checking out Home Bargains or B&M if one close to you

  • Also check out any corner shops/convenience stores in the vicinity. Our village shop sells Happy Shopper Whole Carrots, as well as Baby Carrots, but I can't vouch for the quality as I have never tried them.

Also try Amazon. I've come across loads of groceries on there that have disappeared from the supermarkets. Sadly some of them at much inflated prices!

Essential Waitrose Whole Carrots in Water, Salt Added (300g) 30p. Also available from Ocado.

The tin cannot be that big so I don't know how they differ from the baby carrots that Waitrose also sells.

So how do you get a whole carrot into a small tin without slicing it? Unless it's a baby carrot.

It may be regional, but when I look on mySupermarket, it lists 2 brands in Sainsbury's, and one each in Tesco, Ocada & Waitrose.

Do you have any other stores you pass, maybe in another town? When I asked about an item listed as 'in stock' on their website, they said it was only stocked at the store which did the home deliveries. As the store was about 5 miles further away, I didn't bother.

I've found that as every supermarket's tried to "up its game", it's actually just added more products that might appeal to the middle class masses....and that shelf space has to come from removing goods for those of us with different culinary requirements :)

A lot of "cheap" or "not aspirational enough" products have been whisked from the shelves in the last 5 years. I struggle some days to find anything to buy.

Why not buy fresh carrots, and cut / peel them and freeze them portion size?

i thought that especially when an average carrot is like 8inches long will be a big tin :rotfl:

Because it's effort; because not everybody's got a freezer the size of a mountain; because they're sold in handy tins for 30p :)
