Resigning due to poor management decisions - advice needed

I am thinking about resigning from my job, the third time this year.
Each time I went back to my job and worked my butt off because I believed things would get better, the second time I almost quit they offered me a promotion to team leader, which I accepted - but things have not improved.
Its mostly down to management I would leave - the stock is very poorly controlled (ie: we never have enough stock of what we need), they consistently change things like menus etc without consulting the staff -- after all, we're only the ones that sell and deal with the customers!!! -- and I feel that as a team leader I am overworked. I used to work with 3-4 other team leaders, now there are only 2-3 team leaders on the floor, and at weekends at one point I was on my own juggling stock control and the floor.
Tonight was the last straw, I have had enough of all the crap that goes on. Its silly things like the management losing track of the keys, and them winding up on the counter upstairs, there is no accountability, my general manager micromanages everything, and I am just sick of it all.
I am desperate to quit, I dont really need the money as I have some saved, but I just know I need to get out of there and find something new as soon as possible.
Am I being stupid, or should I stick around and find another job before I quit in haste to escape the poor management?

What have you done so far about looking for another job ?
What sort of commitments do you have ?
"They" say that's it;s always easier to get a new job when you;re in one already.
I've been in a similar position to you before where I've been so fed up that I've resigned without a new job to go to - at the time I only had me to worry about and had enough savings to make it possible for me to take a few months off,and it worked out ok.
But I wouldn't risk the same now as I have others dependent on me, and I wouldn't be so confident in getting another job....0 -

After the first couple of times I almost quit, I applied for several jobs without a lot of luck - I got offered one job but it turned out to pay much less than I was currently making.
I really wanted the team leader position and had mentioned it previously to management but they ignored my requests for four months before deciding they needed me on board for the position - for reasons I was never told. I'm still not sure if I was promoted because they just plain needed someone to take care of something they couldnt be bothered with, or if they actually realised I could do the job well.
At the present time I am making applications for other jobs and seeing what outcome I get. I dont have commitments to anywhere other than London as my boyfriend has a job here and my Mum lives here, my family are all further south and dont bother with us much. My boyfriends family are in Wales/Devon areas and if I didnt have my mother I would be all for upping sticks and moving that way! We have a little flat together, the contract on which is up in 6-8 months so we could move again if needed.
Four years ago I did actually walk out of a job on the spot because the manageress shouted at me in front of a store full of customers; I didnt like the treatment so I quit right there and then. It turned out that 1 month later I got another job I loved and I stayed with that company for three years until they downsized.0 -
OP i remember reading a stat that said the majority of people leave jobs due to management rather than as a result of the job. I would wait until you have something else lined up before handing your notice inIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
