self employed question

Hi,
i was working for a company on weekly pay and accepted a promotion as a sales rep which is commission only. i started that on sep 8th. things have been slow but everyone else is doing really well so its just me getting to grips with it i hope.
anyway, do i need to register as self employed or something? i have made 1 sale so far, not asked to be paid on it yet but will shortly, what things do i need to do (apart from sell more)?

commission only so i been told its self employed. i dont have a problem with it im just wondering do i have to register or something0
