Hi
I have worked in a callcentre for 9 years. For the past 3 I have worked in training I went through the interview process and I have a change!of contract letter stating my role. In May I was asked to log into the phones to help out as we were very busy which turned into a full agent level secondment until the end of this month.
I have now been approached and asked to extend my secondment until year end. It is no longer busy but our company has been taken over and my manager has told me they want to keep things as they are, as our new owners are doing a review at year end. I have made it clear that I am not happy to do this and I will do any job in the callcentre except this.
Do I have any right to refuse this secondment extension.
Thanks

I am no expert but I think you need to look at your contract, if anywhere it states "plus any other duties" or such wording I would think they can ask you to do this0

Also I wonder if he's trying to safeguard your job in the sense that he suspects or knows that training will be outsourced/cut/changed in some significant way0

Yeah all contracts state ad hoc tasks so looks like im screwed. My next step is handing notice in as I have zero interest. Will I have grounds for unfair dismissal f for example I go in, refuse the duties and let them sack me? Childish I know but its fraustrating to be put back to square 1 in a company ive given so much too.0

If it were me I would be looking at the new combined organisation and what the training plans are, going round/over any current bosses if needed to get recognized for any opening or becoming part of that team if they have one.
if that's what you really want.0
