Train/Driving Help - London Visit

I wonder if someone could help me.
I am looking at going to a exhibit at Olympia in October but am unsure of what the best way of travel is.
I live in Dorset and to go from Dorset to Kensington, Olympia it will cost £102 for two adults. It was suggested to drive closer to London, e.g. Richmond and get the train from there (which is much cheaper by train), however, I am unsure about the parking closer to London as have always travelled by train.
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly received.

Depends what part of Dorset, what date and time, and if there are just two of you in your party? If you can tell me I can look it up better for you

If there are two people travelling and you travel together regularly, it may be worth you looking into a Two Together railcard, it would save you 1/3 on your train fare.
I live in that section of London myself and have been back and forth to Olympia for events so I know the area quite well.

You can park free on the street about 7-8 minutes walk from Raynes Park Station (close to the A3). From there the best way is to go to Clapham Junction, change and go to Olympia0

Or you can start your journey at another station and perhaps save a lot more money - are you travelling on the Waterloo route?0

Assuming this is on the Waterloo line to Exeter, you can get Megatrain single fares for as little as a tenner each way, so I don't know where you get £102 from? It all depends on the timing. Change at Clapham Junction for direct trains to Olympia. No free lunch, and no free laptop
