Default vs AP markers

Hi redux, is your debt still with Barclaycard or have they sold it on ? I have over 6 years of AP markers on my files from a Barclaycard debt which they had sold on to Cabot but never defaulted. I complained to Barclaycard and they did not agree to a backdated default but eventually they agreed to ask Cabot to remove the record from my credit files. Cabot have agreed but said it will take 4 to 6 weeks to action so now I am waiting.0

Barclaycard seem to be a better company then mbna to deal with, there should be a industry standard ,which would make it fair0

I don't owe Barclaycard anything, but the person I was talking to has the account still with Barclaycard.0 -

Are the markers as bad as most are making them out to be
There is an Arrangement to Pay registered on this account. The payment status has been reported as up to date.......maybe its not as negative effect as others mention?
Where the payment status is reported as upto date (with the ap marker)..is that not a wee positive until I clear this cardReplenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Sorry redux I misunderstood and thought it was your own situation with Barclaycard. From my experience with them and from what i have read on this forum it seems to be a matter of luck depending on who you get to speak with at Barclaycard.
No personal experience of NatWest but it sounds like they try to help and resolve the complaints but don't really know what they are doing and just mess it up. I think the OP will get there with them in the end but will need to give very clear instructions about what they need to do to correct this situation.0 -
Dandytf - the problem with AP markers is that company's use them in place of issueing a default notice. What they should do is issue a default notice and add a note to the record to say that the debt is in an arrangement to pay or DMP. This way of reporting DMP debts is described in the Debt Management Protocol which is referred to in The Lending Code. I actually phoned Experian myself and they confirmed it was possible to report a debt this way. By doing this the note shows that the debtor is making an effort to repay the debt but the default notice starts the 6 year period of visibility of the debt record on the file. I believe that in terms of creditors looking at your file an arrangement to pay is very slightly better than a default but with the default you know you have 6 years and then it is gone. AP markers remain visible till 6 after you have paid the debt so have the potential to mess you up for many years. Dumpyboy is looking at 18 years !0

I think i'll leave SC run as is...excellent explanation though I just don't have the energy to 'fight' credit rating decisions.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
With mine one account was paid up July last year and if I have a good couple of months the other will be clear by the the end of the year both report on arrangement to pay with a monthly staus 6 they credit 1 pound to the account a month and take a 1 pound payment , loss a case with the ombudsman as they agreed with the credit card company that I had willing enter in to this agreement for 12 years (6 years reporting when ended why I say 18 years),still waiting nearly 2 years for a reply from the ico . This has stopped me from haveing a full bank account , it was suggested to try a vanquis card on here but I got refused an arrangement to pay is truly evil marker0
