Job statistics

I have already posted on here about a survey we are doing for the local Labour Party about signing on problems in a remote area - thanks everybody, survey nearly finished.
I am now writing it up into a paper and wanted some background information. I am familiar with many of the data sets held by National Statistics and looked for a data set about jobs in a Middle Layer Super Output Area (National Statistics definition = town plus rural hinterland).
There are lots of statistics but no job count - yet I read in the local paper recently that the area had lost 1000 jobs in the last decade.
Has anybody any idea where to find these statistics as I want to show the decline in jobs in the area through the loss of manufacturing and agricultural jobs. Also a lot of council jobs have gone but in 1s and 2s so the change is imperceptible. Local authority? Welsh Assembly? I could also post on a number of local Facebook sites about actual closures of factories as there have been quite a lot.
I hope I have posted on the right board and sorry if I have not.
Thank you /diolch yn fawr
