Grrrrr this month is being sooooo long. I am going to have to do another revision of the budget I think and try very hard to get OH on board. It is so frustrating when monies are being spent all over the place. Not much point me using a 50p off coupon when a "whole weekend away with his cycling mate" has been booked and not accounted for in any budget :rotfl::eek::mad:

  • It's so frustrating when your OH doesn't have the same focus on being MF as you do. It's only recently that my OH has been a MFW before that he would waste money all the time. Keep going and try to keep reminding your OH about the bigger picture. The interest savings and what you'll be able to do when you are MF can be a real incentive. Good luck!

Thanks for your support Makethedayscount. OH always says all the right things but doesn't always follow through and do them !!!

A low spend weekend which is always good (although NSD would be even better). Food bill at Aldi was just over £60 which included some wine and flowers as gifts for a friend. I meal planned properly (a la Tilly) and really noticed the difference. Must try and plan a few weeks in advance over the summer break to be even more organised, especially if I do end up with a full time contract. I plan to do some batch cooking and fill up the garage freezer to make life easier in September.

Buildings & contents insurance renewal coming up so will be doing some price comparisons via TCB to try and get the best price. Every little helps. Last week of term for me coming up. I cannot wait :T

I have a challenging Mrs SJ at times. Well I say Mrs SJ... she doesn't work on a Friday and generally spends the day with her mum, which means visiting all the retail parks and spending money on Home Bargains on carp that we don't actually need!! I actually have to budget for this, but I'm not brave enough to approach it! In the main she is engaged it MFW but i curse Home Bargains and then they build a new bigger one...grrr!
    MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......

Vanguard (touch wood) continues to progress well (I'm only a little bit obsessed about checking the balance :rotfl:).

Oh and I'm totally with you on this one! I keep thinking/hoping it'll wear off, but it hasn't yet!

Hi SJ good to see you. Love the fact that you actually budget for Mrs SJ's overspending - great idea. There's no hope for me with Vanguard, I have a twice a day habit !!

So confession time, I purchased two dresses for an Awards night I was attending. One from Next and one from Debenhams - tried them on and loved them both. Should I keep them both I wondered ? - but no, my MSE head just couldn't justify it so I returned them both and wore the dress I wore last year. No-one seemed to notice and I even got a compliment from my manager (what is the world coming to?). How things change, before MSE I probably would have kept them both and never worn them at al.

My last day tomorrow and then away at Centreparcs this weekend and have bought bargainous food today to keep the costs down, including pizzas, BBQ bits, alcohol, treats and nibbles. I am so looking forward to some R&R and hope the weather stays fine. Washing dried on the line today and even the dog's bed has been washed as he is staying with my friend whilst we are away.

Mortgage currently stands at £17,508.34 with interest last month of £32.63. Just over £1/day. Into the £16s next month, so exciting.

In a couple of months we will also have paid ourselves back some money we loaned ourselves to buy a car, and then can ramp the OPs up a little more. Can't wait for that :j

Thank you PurpleFairy and Makethedayscount, we had a great time at CP. Weather was mostly fine and we made the most of activities. Lovely family time although missing DS2 who is in faraway lands. Also enjoyed a couple of days in London and saw a show which was absolutely wonderful. Very humid in London and we dressed for the rain which was forecast but never arrived lol. So a tad hot whilst battling the tube and walking around. Just had DS3's birthday and an end of year concert for DS4's choir. Lots of lovely memories made (and lots of money spent). Since becoming MSE I even begrudge spending budgeted money :rotfl: Have had a lazy start to the day and now contemplating the many jobs that I promised myself I would do in the holidays (seemed like a good idea at the time, somehow now I have the time I don't have the motivation !). I think I will have a nice catch up of diaries and finish my coffee and then write a list (and maybe then tackle something on the list).

On money news, the outstanding mortgage today is £17,508.34 with daily interest at £1.08. We have 37 months left on the current mortgage term but really hoping to reduce this. Next month will take us into the £16s but need to step up the OPs. Have been really lax lately. OH came up with the inspirational comment the other day of "why don't we just really blast the mortgage". Um, well yes, that's what we have been trying to do over the past x amount of months" Unfortunately, it doesn't work if you also keep blasting money at other things :rotfl: Never mind, hopefully I will keep plugging away and he will one day have his LBM.

Off to see what everyone else has been up to. Have a good day everyone.
