The 'normal ' tax code for this year is 522L ..is that what you mean?
Anyway your tax will be automatically adjusted without you having to do anything once your payslip shows 522L.
However, for last year you need to claim from the HMRC... just write in enclosing a copy of your P60 and say your tax code should have been 503L rather than 494t (well I suppose that what you mean).
I assume you have only one employment, no other sources of income (e.g. pensions etc) and no benefits in kind (e.g. car allowance, health plan)0 -
Just make sure that your tax code on your next payslip is 522L. If it says 522L/1 or has a tick/cross against a column saying (Week 1/Month1) then you need to get HMRC to change it to the cumulative basis. At the moment, if you are taxed on 522L only then you will get your tax refund automatically in your next pay as you are being taxed on your salary to date in the year taking into account your full personal allowance of 522L. If you are on tax code 522L/1 this means as from August/September you are only getting your full personal allowance from the date of the new tax code onwards, and you are still owed the difference on your tax allowance prior to this (i.e. 6th April to August/Sept). Hope it makes sense ?!?!0

It depends on how much of a refund you are due.:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0 -

Depends on the figures.
Your employer will calculate your cumulative tax to date using the new tax code.
He'll then take away what you have already paid and either charge you or refund you the difference. It will show on your payslip as just one figure.0 -

Hi,
your code sounds to me as though you've got some flat rate expenses in there, possibly for laundering your uniform or something like that?
When your employer pays you so long as you have a cumulative code you will either pay no tax for a month and see a refund on your pay or you'll pay reduced tax that month.
For last year, send your last P60 (original) to your tax office with a covering letter asking for an assessment to be carried out, should take about 8-10 weeks but they'll send you a cheque.
