Good news, I'm sure we can all agree on that.
The demise of this kind of outlet is now a certainty IMO, with spending power increasing rapidly and set to continue to rise. It's yet another sign that the UK is in a great economic spot right now. Particularly for workers, conditions are great. Unemployment is just 5.5%, which is technically as close to "full employment" as we can get, inflation is at a record low, and pay growth is double inflation.
In short, almost everyone is in work and their pay is rising faster than the price of their shopping. That means the attractiveness of buying your shampoo or crisps from places like Poundland and 99p Store is fast diminishing.
Good news, I'm sure we can all agree on that.

Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Not sure how they drew that conclusion when Lidl and Aldi are taking over the world right now0

More like there is more competition in the £1 sector with the supermarkets now having £1 offers.0

It goes on to say that whilst the like for like sales from existing stores have fallen marginally, they opened 50 new stores in the last year and their total sales are up 5% so as a nation we are buying more, not less, from poundland. I am not sure that this continued expansion of their business is particularly good evidence that we are all too rich to shop there now; they would be closing stores if that was the case, not opening one a week.0 -
There's one opening near me soon ... I expect to be all giddy with excitement and rushing in there at least once a month to see if there's anything nifty I couldn't live without for £1.0
