No, Julia, I dont' think you're off topic. You've pointed out that you managed very well without using a dodgy oven. Which is what the OP should do.0

This is really sad, but we love it.
Boil in the bag rice
Uncle Ben's sweet 'n' sour sauce
Fish fingers
Cook as per the packet instructions. (We don't have it often, only on occasional Fridays when it's late, we can't be bothered and we're in danger of getting takeaways!):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
If your oven can only currently manage "Nuclear" temperatures it will be ideal for cooking tandoori chicken. A million recipes are available but i just marinade chicken, or whatever, in tandoori paste and yoghurt and then blast it in the oven at full temp. Quick dinner. Works really well with pork chops too.My eyes! The goggles do nothing!0

A great big pot of stovies, lasts two days, is very cheap and everybody loves it:j. You'll find plenty of recipes if you just google stovies, but it's one of those things that everybody has their own favourite way of making, usually based on what you were brought up with. My secret recipe is the very best, even better than my mums.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Also pretty good for duck & pancakes - chinese style
If you have a working grill try marinated pork belly slices. I marinated in a bit of honey & sopy sauce, grill for 10-15 mins. Utterly unbelievably gorgous, Serve with stir fry veg & egg fried rice or noodles. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
