Aspergers and work

Options
Hi apologies if this is in the wrong place, hoping someone on here might be able to help. I have also posted on the disability forum but this is my 'home' forum.

After a bit of advice more on behalf of my bf than for me.
My bf has aspergers, he's 26 and quite smart. He has a BA in cinematography and has a passion for films, camera work. He is really struggling to find employment doing anything even working in warehouses, mainly he just doesn't get a call back when he applies but if he has an interview he struggles as his aspergers makes it hard for him to interact with strangers.
Any advice for where we could turn for help? Or how we can move forward?
TIA

could you 'role play' interviews with him? my grandson and granddaughter has Aspergers and very often we will roleplay a situation they find uncomfortable until the concept becomes familiar to them.
it also helps to look for advice for neurotypicals and to practice the answers to 'stock' questions'.

Its difficult to advise him directly as we haven't met and I don't know if he has any traits or anything which may 'put off an employer' - such as not looking directly at the interviewer or fidgeting. YOU may notice such things when roleplaying and work with him on showing the right bodylanguage etc. on looking eager rather than distracted that sort of thing.
is there a branch of an Aspergers help group you could access? many of them have websites and some offer group courses which could be helpful.

He wont be the only one who doesn't get a call back - it is actually rare now for employers to give unsuccessful applicants a call. perhaps he doesn't realise this and takes it personally?

I hope I have helped a little but even if I haven't I DO wish your bf good luck on his job search and hope he finds something soon.
