So - go but don't eat the food - just take some sarnies and do your job without joining in.:hello:0

Tell them you will go but you are unable to pay, you will bring your own food and drink as usual over your meal times.
You are attending in a work situation, continuing your care roll.
Get dressed up and participate to help the party get going but definitely no payment should be expected of staff who have to attend as part of work - if staff wish to attend but are not on duty then they have to pay.0 -
I think what everybody is forgetting is you go to work to earn a living, to be expected to pay for a meal whilst at work is not acceptable. You are paying to work.
Some of these comments are saying it just like a work meal it is not as you are still working and responsible for others. With work meals you do not have to attend if you do not want to.
If they are making you go they should pay simple as that if there is no budget for it that is not your fault. I would either refuse point blank to pay or state you are not willing to go so find someone else to take them bet the manager wont0
