Can't open file

A month or two ago I upgraded my 12 month old Motorola Moto G to Lollipop from Jelly Bean. Last week I downloaded a pdf and upon completion I attempted to open it only to be confronted with the message, "can't open file". I then tried to open files which I had downloaded and loaded successfully prior to the upgrade and the same message appeared on all of them.
Any ideas please before I have to resort to navigating support at Motorola?

It looks like you need to install an app that can open pdf files. Have a look on the app store.0

Many thanks wongataa and ballyblack. Downloaded the app in question and everything is o.k. now. Unfortunately the thanks button is not showing on my mobile so I tethered to my lappy and it's not showing on here either. I suspect a phrase containing the words "old dogs" and "new tricks" may be appropriate.0
