I find the plastic ones tend to smell and don't wash well and pyrex are expensive, heavy and tend to break.
My mum used to put the pan in the fridge just after dinner and on the hob the next day, but we seem to have so much food now, fresh and cooked, so not much room to manuever. any tips?

I use the Vacuum Saver plastic boxes for short term storage and frequent use, such as cheese etc. For longer term chilled storage I have an electric Vacuum FoodSaver which uses bags or special wrapping on rolls.0

I have the glass containers and they've been great so far. Mine have been though the dishwasher and in the microwave and are great. They're oven and freezer safe too so I'm certainly expecting them to last a while. It depends what you mean by "not really good with glass", like most glass, you'd be lucky if they survived being dropped on the floor but as long as you're not throwing them around the room I think you'll be okay.0
