martin's article chould help - you can also get cashback on some policies via quidco or free travel insurance with some bank acounts. you may find that you need to pay a bit extra as many places limit the maximum length of any one trip.

Please check this very carefully. My Capital One travel insurance will only pay out if I die, and does NOT cover medical attention.

Be aware that you may not be covered by an annual policy, as many limit the amount of days that you can be away. You may need a gap year/ backpackers policy.
