Bit misleading?

Received this email a few week ago from Sam from the Travel Experience group asking me to vote for them and I could win a prize if I voted for them, it linked to their site which made out you needed to vote for them in order to win with the wording used.

I did click the link and vote and was considering sharing on MSE if it wasn't already here but wanted some terms and conditions/more info first. The voting site wasn't related to their site but the prize draws I've later found out are nothing to do with the travel experience group but the voting awards themselves.

I just went on their site and a live chat popped up asking if I needed any help from someone called Lauren so I asked about the prize draws/voting and she disconnected the chat! I reconnected the chat and she disconnected me again then it said no agents were online anymore.

I didn't realise the prize draws were completely separate to them to begin with because their email/site made out you needed to vote for them specifically in order to be able to win. I emailed them a few weeks ago and they just ignored me. I think it's a bit cheeky they make out you need to vote for them in order to win when the prize draws are run by someone else. If they had replied to me and said the prize draws are actually nothing to do with them but another company then that would be fine but it was like they didn't want to admit that.

I feel silly for voting for them now but don't think I can change my vote. It will definitely teach me to be more wary when it comes to these kind of competitions to do with voting. I do know some companies actually do run their own competitions to increase votes though. The misunderstanding could have easily been resolved by them but oh well :)

  • Vote for company comps are just ways to get them to the top of the voting lists -- in a way, it is cheating and deception as people are not voting because the company is any good - but in the chance to win a prize.

I agree, it's an incentive to encourage votes that probably wouldn't have happened otherwise, it isn't always allowed is it?

This company annoyed me because it wasn't even their prizes to give away but it was like they were cleverly wording it to make out it was run by them. If that wasn't the case they could have cleared it up by replying to me and there wouldn't have been any issue.

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!
