tax code?

Hi everyone

Hope this is in the right place!

Last year I finished uni and started work, working for a care home and then on to the nhs in a band 5 post. My tax code was 547l cumu and I received a tax rebate of £900 in July!

I have just checked my latest payslip and it says my tax code is 1000L cumu and I have paid £949 tax from £9207 earned. I do get a on call payment in my wages.

Does anyone know if this is the right tax code? Would I be able to claim for my uniform do you think?

I'm clueless!! Thanks for your help x

1000L is not the standard tax code (which would be 1060L) so you will have received a P2 Coding Notice to explain why it is different. HMRC obviously think something is out of the ordinary as your tax code last year was way out of line with the standard one. Go through your paperwork and find out what's going on, if you have lost it then ring them up to ask for replacements.

You may be able to claim tax relief on £60 for cleaning your uniform.
