Lowell Capital One dispute.

I have chased Lowell re a supposed £900 default on my credit file registered 2011 for a capital one card. I started calling them in Jan this year to demand statements as I suspect fraudulent activity. Ever since I have called every 2 weeks just to be told that they are still waiting for the statements from Capital One... I was beginning to feel like I'd still be waiting till this time next year and felt it unfair it remain on my file if they still could not prove it. I contacted noddle to dispute it and they wrote back saying they had looked into it and we're pleased to advise it would be removed from my file. I looked at my noddle file on the next update and its still there with the code QY on the default dates? Lowell sent me a letter yesterday saying my account is now on hold as they are awaiting statements from Capital One and that it could take a long time to receive the statements. They advise I need not contact them??? They told me they were awaiting statements from CO several months ago? Can they really continue to hold this against me in my file when they still can't offer me the paperwork to go with it that I have been constantly requesting as proof? Feel helpless as i can't do anything till they get these. I have even tried to go to Capital One myself but they won't help because the debt is now owned by Lowell. Is there anything I can do about this other than wait till goodness knows when?

If it is more than 8 weeks since you made your original compliant, then take it to the FOS.

Thanks for that.... I've been complaining to Lowell every 2 weeks since the start of the year and just been told it's a waiting game.0

It is on some level, but they should not leave you hanging on for ever. Getting a formal complaint going via the FOS may well get them to get their backsides in gear.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
