hi. I went with payplan 4 years ago. We had very big debts but were referred to fcl by unison who told us this was are best corse of action. I have to say we were very pleased to start. No more threating letter or phone calls. Two and a half years on the debt had doubled. Some debtors had stopped interest some just added late payment charges or sold on debts etc. We were completely unaware until ccj's started to arrive. Citazens advice at the court stepped in and we referred for an Iva. Accountants looked at all the paper work previous to payplan and since and said we should never have been advised to go with payplan and they should of picked it up to. We lost our home and are struggling to rebuild our credit records.
Sorry to be harper of doom but we had substantial debts so may be very different.
Actually I came on this to ask any one if they thought I could complain re this bad advice and who to and about which people??
Please take care with payplan we stuck to our agreement and were completely transparent but we lost a lot.
Thanks
I can certainly say your case isn't a one off Elsie, I had the exact same problem with Payplan - I continued to incur fees from my creditors as Payplan did not stick to consistent payment dates (they would take the money from me on the 26th of every month without fail - but my creditors would get paid whenever it suited!).
The final straw was when I signed some consolidation paperwork with HSBC for my loan, overdraft and credit card (as payplan had been unable to get them to freeze interest / stop charges / etc) and I wrote to Payplan to advise on the change and they continued to pay each individual component as opposed to the new 'managed loan'. In turn it took 6 months before HSBC received a payment and to be quite frank, its left me worse off .... I would not recommend Payplan to anyone.
Aside from my personal problems with them, it was impossible to talk to anyone should you have a query. They say to contact them if you have any correspondence / conversations with your creditors, yet it takes hours to get through on the phone and they never respond to e-mails or letters.
Payplan = Bloody Useless!!!
I have now resorted to sorting out my debts myself and have found this a million times more effective, I didn't think my creditors would be very responsive to me but they would rather deal direct with the customer than through a third party and all have agreed to freeze my interest and funnily enough ... no charges since

I'm i right is FCL ,a fee paying company. When i google ,i found you have to pay 15% up front then anywhere between £25-£100 a month.
I'm very happy with payplan .

Ah good, I'm glad Payplan is working for you.
Payplan seems to be like Marmite - you either love em or hate em! hehe0 -
Hi
They sent us a letter and told us to go to court but there was nothing they could do. The letter just detailed all creditors and howlong we had been with payplan.0 -

Seems to me from reading your post that your problems began when you were referred to Fcl. Please never go with a fee paying company and to anyone out there thinking of going with Payplan /CCCS or any of the FREE companys my advice is GO FOR IT:T
Payplan have been brilliant for me ,and for others,on this board. Do so with confidence as they know what they are doing

fcl stood for federated credit limited they offered free debt advice to anyone in uk. They were the mother company to payplan ltd. We were refered to them from unison welfare department as they worked very closely with the police federation to avoid bankrupacy for police officers. Apparently we were later told by the insolvency practioners that they also had a company called shaws that would of been the correct referral as they could of done an iva much earlier. Which would of kept the house.
I am knocking payplan but only for the fact they went ahead with the a plan that was inappropriate. I am sure if its the correct plan that they work very well. So if its working great but keep a close eye. thats all i'm saying.0 -
Thank you for that. Its just that i am a bit protective over Payplan as they have helped me and when someone sounds a bit negative i get all protective like i would over my younger brother if he had a problem. No doubt there are people out there that have had problems but for me they are great and i will continue to have that opinion until somethings happens(hope not) to change it. There are 2 sides to every story however and i am sorry it did not work out for you.
