With a hot water system that has a Hot water cylinder that is fed from a Cold water tank in the attic, It was not unusual to find the remains of birds and mice that have fallen into the tank over the months and years.
In a modern enclosed system - no problem.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

I cook everything in cold water boiled in the kettle and added to whatever I'm cooking. It's then brought back up to the boil and off we go.
There's no problem drinking water that's 'been through' a combi-boiler. The water just gets heated in much the same way as boiling a kettle and we all drink that happily enough.0 -
I can't remember the last time I boiled any vegetable. I've got a Russell Hobbs electric steamer and all the veg goes in that. Potatoes on the bottom, then the less dense veg in the middle and top basket. All cooked in one go for one price. Job done.0

New potatoes should be put into boiling water for cooking. All other root vegetables should start off in cold water.0
