Problem with solicitors (taking a long time)

Hi,

Just want to get some opinions/advice regarding the solicitors who are dealing with my mortgage. They are not local but were recommended by London & Country (Grindeys Solicitors).

Paid them to do the searches on 29/07/2015. They called me once or twice later that month to ask something so I assumed they were working on it.

Called them on Wed 26/08/2015 for an update and was told I will receive the report by the end of the week. Called them again Wed 02/09/2015 as nothing came and was told the report was emailed to me on 28/08. I checked the email address is correct and asked to email it again. No email came despite me calling them a number of times. Just a promise to email it again and later to email it in smaller segments in case the file is too big for the email.

On 14/09 I decided to stop calling and use email instead as otherwise I have no record of the communication.

They emailed me back saying the report has been emailed to me twice (28/08 and 07/09). I told them I have received no emails so they said they will post it to me first class. But still no letter has come so I emailed them today (18/09) asking if it has been sent to me. The answer was YES letter was sent on Wed 16/09 first class. So should have come yesterday or worst case scenario today.

Any ideas what's happening here or what I should do?

Contact them again if you haven't received the report on Saturday morning. The solicitors I'm purchasing with have always sent reports by post and not by email.

Ask them to send you a copy of their complaints procedure. Maybe that alone with encourage them to do better, and if not then you know how to complain about the poor service you've received.

I have also had the Grindeys recommended by L&C, they tell me they will chase the process to ensure things get done, but looking at your post it looks like this is just part of the patter. Have things got any better ?
