Bradford & Bingley PPI claim advice

Hi,
I hope someone here can help me with my mortgage ppi query.
In 1999 I took out a 100% mortgage with Bradford & Bingley, earlier this year I paid my mortgage off entirely, only recently did I notice that than additional B&B directdebit was still actively taking money from my account, after further investigation I confirmed that this is a loss of earning insurance tied into my B&B mortgage which I do not recall taking out, I am in the process of cancelling this directdebit now.
Based on the above information do you think a PPI claim will be successful? and I should definatley pursue this further...
Thanks.

Nothing you have said indicates anything was can use to gauge chance of success.
Saying you didnt know you had it is a weak complaint reason. You cant prove you didnt know and all the fraudulent/try-it-on complaints say the same thing. They will have an application on file that shows you applied for it. So, on that particular point, they should be able to easily reject it. However, they are required to look at the overall sale, such as whether you were eligible, and as we know nothing about you or the process they used, we cant really comment.
All we can say is that MPPI has a much lower success rate on complaints than loan or credit card PPI. It is one of two PPIs still retailed today. The FOS also consider it more important as it is covering a major long debt with lifestyle changing consequences if you dont pay it (unlike loan and credit card debt).
I would expect B&B to refund the direct debit payments from the point the mortgage was repaid as a goodwill gesture. That is unless it was an independently sold product and not an own-brand product.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
