Employers withholding shift allowance when on holiday?

  • Ah, well after the first three days of sickness at my company (which is unpaid) I am entitled to my full normal pay whilst I am off. Shift allowance has been paid in the past for everything, holidays, sickness, maternity etc.
  • Where I work, which is a very large employer with a nearly 100% union membership we get an average of the last 12 weeks shift premium for holidays and a % of normal pay (50-100% depending on service) for sickness.
