Sending non-boxed flowers - help!

Hello all
I want to send flowers to an elderly relative and I don't know any of the local florists to her. I have used some of the internet suppliers before but the flowers always come in a tough cardboard box and I really don't think she will be able to open it.
Several of interfloras bouquets are from local florists and so are not boxed, but I have read some unfavourable reviews of interflora - does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thank you for any help

Hi there have you tried yellow pages online to search for a local florist? http://www.yell.com/ucs/HomePageAction.do (sorry my OH normally does the links
)-I tend to go that way (have had a poor experience of Interflora online) but instead of booking online I give them a ring to talk through the specification-of course once you've found them hang onto contact details!!
Failing that can you specify a geographical area and maybe someone knows the area and can recommend a good florist?

Thanks - it is the Oxford area. I looked at the yellow pages online and there were a couple listed, one did interflora delivery which is where I started getting unsure of the best way to go about it. The thing about online is that you can see a picture of how the flowers should look and what you get for your money.

in the past ive just had a look on yell.com, picked a local florist, phoned them up, discussed what i wanted and then ordered them. no interflora (dont like what they do) and only a local delivery charge to pay.'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

I agree with Sue - try a local florist; they usually give much better service than the big boys. Don't do what my DH did - he sent me a single rose for our 1st valentines day (30 years ago!!), unfortunately he just slapped my address on the plastic cover and popped it into a mail box. It was mummified by the time it got to me - lol!0
