New sickness policy on 0 hours contract

Its worth noting that this is a company policy - it is not a contractual change so they don't need your agreement by law to implement it nor to change it again in the future.
Some employers may get people to sign policies to confirm that they have read and understand it, others may go to the extreme that they ask people to sign to say they agree with the policy and accept it, but to be honest they don't have to. All they have to do is make the policy available to employees (whether in a handbook, on the intranet or on a notice board)0 -

Indeed.
Even if it were a contractual change then simply not signing it would not be sufficient. You would have to positively reject the change. Then, if you couldn't reach a compromise, they could impose it leaving you with two options. Accept it or resign and claim unfair dismissal.
However, as this is a zero hour contract it is all totally moot as they could simply not offer you any work!0 -
This type of 'control' (not the right word really) is becoming more and more common. My employer has long had a limit on the number of days a person can be off sick in a rolling 12 month period before flags are raised. Over the years they have reduced the number of days permitted and, more recently, the number of periods of sickness irrespective of the cumulative number of days.0
