  • Thank you Lily-Rose so much for your message, it means a lot. Feeling pretty vulnerable after today but it's done and life for me should be a lot easier once I've had the interview with the OR which will hopefully go well.

    Thank you again.
  • That seems really awful. I hope now you have done that part you can focus on the OR interview - which i would think if you are having means the BR has been granted. Did you get stamped paperwork back ?

I think a mobile for young people is now generally considered essential. A way to keep in contact and hopefully safe.

My OR was lovely, just went into the hows and whys of my situation , nothing on my budget. I had my answer on the day if i would have to pay an IPA.

Just think another step in the direction of your new life. Best of luck

Being bankrupt does not mean you suddenly have to give up everything and live on bread and water. Just because you've experienced financial difficulties doesn't also mean you should be punished.

When you become bankrupt, you are allowed a life and to start planning for the future. The OR will go through this persons SOA and anything that isn't deemed to be a reasonable will be removed. It's reasonable to be allowed a TV that accepts live broadcasts, the poster hasn't committed a criminal offence so why should they be punished as if they have done?

I hope that you are never in a position where you may need the help and support of people in this section, you may find the help some what lacking with an attitude like that towards posters.

I'm shocked at Blindman's response. Thankfully he doesn't normally reside here!

Please ignore that post & hopefully you have seen that we don't judge on this board & we help where we can.

    Good luck

In the grand scheme of things, if you are in the position of needing to go bankrupt £12.12 or £27 for sky isn't really going to cover your financial commitments.

Once bankrupt those debts are then gone, it's then down to the OR to decide what is reasonable and what isn't. They will allow a TV license but most OR's probably won't allow Sky.

I'm discharged from my bankruptcy, I now budget properly and hope to never find myself in debt again. I've learnt to get by now without any form of credit, if I can't afford it then I don't get it. I have the basics in life and nothing more, which is the case with most bankrupts.

People don't always end up in BR because they're not living within their means; there's illness, addictions etc. In my situation it was a case of being unable to work for three whole years after I separated due to childcare being in excess of £3k a month, more than my take home pay. Benefits (when I started claiming them) are not enough to cover my basic expenses.

Anyway, I won't waste any more time on responding to you; you clearly thrive on controversy or perhaps have nothing more exciting going in your own life.

    Exactly.

To be honest, I don't know why any of us are even responding to this person's comments. It's not like his views are important. And hardly anyone agrees with him.

I really don't know what his problem is or why he has such an attitude problem with bankrupt folk. I don't care enough to dwell on it or ask him though.

Good for you. :T Glad everything turned out well and that you didn't get an IPA!

That's really great, I can't wait to be in a similar position, well done;)
  • Quick update from me ... just spoke to the OR and scheduled an interview for next week. She couldn't have been nicer, and I'm feeling positive about it.

Thank you all for your help and reassuring words.
