My OH bought a jacket from M&S last week costing £139. He has not yet worn it, it has all labels etc still intact. I have now received a 20% discount code from M&S which is valid for clothing.
The MSE in me tells me to return the jacket to get a refund and then buy it again with the code at -20% discount. That would be £26 saving and I have to say I'm tempted.
Would you do it?

It would be foolish not to do so on an unworn item.0

I would have done it too. However, if you take the original one back to the shop for a refund and then ask if you can buy it straight back the staff won't let you (I've tried it before). I go and buy another one at the discounted price THEN take the original back. That way I make sure I definitely have one at the new price. I once took something back hoping to buy it at the reduced price because there weren't any left in the store or online in my size. The staff refunded me but couldn't say when it would be back on the shop floor for me to buy again. I was very disappointed but, as they say, you learn from your mistakes!0

This is what I do too, however I then whip out the receipt for the original purchase & get a refund using that with the item I just bought. Saves carrying it to & from the shop.catswiththumbs wrote: »I go and buy another one at the discounted price THEN take the original back. That way I make sure I definitely have one at the new price.0

Thanks ladies, I will give this a go at the weekend as suggested by buying a new jacket at discount before returning the previous one0
