7 weeks to go...what are the essentials?

Options
Hi All

Well its 7.5 weeks until me and the other half tie the knot!! I know technically the essentials to a wedding are whatever you as a couple want them to be however I would like a bit of re-assurance that I've not forgotten anything which is classed as quite an important part?

So...could you tell me what you class as the essentials so I can see if theres anything I wanted and have missed?

Thanks xx :)
:p

  • A few people have said for the bride and groom to be able to have a bottle/glass of water just before the ceremony was essential!

Have you given notice? That's the only thing that's legally going to stop you getting married!
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

That's what I would have said - and you have to give notice 28 days before now (it used to be 15). Also two witnesses, though as far as I know there are very few requirements about that - only that they have to be over 16 and are able to understand the language and nature of the ceremony.

Otherwise I'd say essentials are whatever you want them to be - if you want to spend money on a nice frock, or pretty flowers, or a fancy meal for yourself and any guests, or anything else then that's entirely up to you :)

There is no age requirement for witnesses, only that they are old enough to understand what they are witnessing.

also no requirement for notice if you are marrying by Banns in the Church of England or Wales (but obviously make sure that the Banns have been read).
  • Thanks everyone :) Yes we have given notice and the forms are going back on Monday!

I have most of the usual sorted but feel like I'm forgetting something major that I know I would have wanted lol

Maybe I'm just too organised and am stressing over nothing?

    Thanks

Apologies for the confusion - just the link I found (on Citizens Advice so pretty trustworthy) said there was: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/relationships/living-together-marriage-and-civil-partnership/getting-married/ (under the 'Procedure for civil marriage' section)
