First time buyer - advice needed

Hi,

Any advice would be amazing,

I'm a first time buyer, mortgage approved and house finalised beginning of August,
I need some home improvements so I'm looking at getting a loan, I am hesitant as I'm not sure if this is too soon to apply as I don't want to be rejected then have to wait for further 6 months or so to reapply,
My credit rating is amazing, I work full time and earn 16000 a year after tax, I have no children and live with my partner.

What do everything think I should do?

Thanks in advance
Louise

  • You could apply, but the recent move and new mortgage will count against you.

Unfortunately, no one else gets to see your amazing credit rating - they will base it on your history and affordability - which may be challenging on your income. Would it be a joint application with your partner?

If the work is not urgent, I would wait and save.

Do the work over a longer period and pay as you go.
