GP complaint from specialist

As it said in the title my OH specialist is making a complaint about her gp, my OH is worried that the gp will strike her off his list, could this be a possibility?

The GP being struck off is a possibility!

If he's not a GP anymore - she can't see him!

The likelyhood really depends on the circumstances, and reasons all this has happened.

But I suppose it is a 'possibility'
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

It would be very unusual for a consultant to make a formal complaint about a GP, are you sure they're not offering feedback or similar? Does your wife want them to make a complaint?

My OH doesnt seem too worried about her specialist making a complaint, its just the hassle of finding another GP, trust me we have the same gp and the treatment she has recieved is short of incompetent in my opinion. Whereas i have had pretty decent service off the same gp, but there is also alot of history between my oh and both gp's at the surgery.
  • So who is the specialist complaining to? The GP surgery, or the BMA?

Well if you have had good experience, there might be something else behind this story?
Obviously I don't know but GPs are highly trained people and there is a difference between them being incompetent or your OH being unhappy. I'm also unsure why a consultant would be making the complaint instead of your OH.

I am guessing the complaint will be made to the practice manager, my oh has also made complaints but her treatment hasnt changed. But it does go to shine a bad light on the gp when another medical professional feels the need to make a complaint.

And it is all the more surprising that your partner is concerned that she might have to change GP!

My OH hates change and is worried she'll get the same below standard service from a new gp.
  • Sometimes it's better the devil you know, but in this case it might not be. Maybe see if you can get any recommendations for other GPs in your area?
