Tesco Declined Cashback Warning

Just a heads up warning about Tesco declining cashback. They declined my new grocery customer cashback for no reason so I went ahead and tried to submit a claim. I had to log in to my Tesco account to view the order to get the order number and the amount spent. If the orders are more than 6 weeks old, they are not viewable. so I went into a chat room to ask for the order details. They advised me that they can't view orders older than 6 weeks as they can't hold records indefinitely. 6 weeks is not long, might be a great way of stopping us from making a claim when they decline cashback and we need the order number and the total spent. To other people out there, do a print screen or write the order number down.

I don't understand. Is this an online order and when they deliver the shopping, you should also have had cashback? If so, I didn't even know it was available.

Have you spoken to your bank, it might have been them who declined it.

Hi, sorry, it was through Topcashback and you get £5.25 cashback for being a new grocery member, Tesco deletes order history when its 6 weeks old, so you have no info to make a claim.

I've moved your thread over to the Shop But Don't Drop board where there is a dedicated TCB Questions thread and a TCB representative may be able to help you further.

Thanks for the heads-up. If it helps anyone, Holland and Barratt have declined every single one of the cashback claims I've made through both Quidco and TBC despite providing all the required details and even at the time- because I was that concerned, using the chat contact to ask either to check that my shop had been tracked- each time I was told it was yet the cashback was each time denied at the last minute with no reason why. I can't think of a way around this as I had supplied everything from a tracked screenshot to double checking with a representative, keeping the order details, times, dates...etc, clearing cookies and whatnot beforehand and still it made no difference.

It's such a pain when this happens! They want the sale, but decide to cut the affiliate money... that's not on! I always shop using the private browser when I'm using any kind of cashback, just to be careful.

I use Holland Barratt quite a bit and always receive cashback. Have you tried using a diferent browser? Do you use adblock? I had lots of trouble last year before realising it was casusing issues so I always deactivate it before shopping online now.

I don't have any sort of ad-blocker, I've always been able to track every other form of cashback and I've used Quidco and TCB (it has happened with both) with and without virus protection and also both with IE and Chrome. Same result for both- it gets put on hold for months (after initially tracking most of the time) and then declined, no reason given. I have had it where it doesn't track and I have to chase it- the cashback sites are great at logging your visit and when you clicked through if I need to make a claim, but despite this and despite placing an order via this link (and having cleared my cookies beforehand as suggested) the cashback claim is refused.

It doesn't happen with any other sites I've used cashback sites for yet I use each the same way.

IMO, it's pretty obvious its Holland and Barratt at fault here, not my computer, any software glitches or the cashback sites. It has put me off using them not because of the few pennies and pounds I am declined but because of the attitude they take to just decline everything and effectively tell me I have lied when placing a claim despite my evidence and also knowing myself I placed the order through whatever cashback site I've chosen.

As I've said; I don't get issues about being declined and declined again after placing a ticket etc, with any other site when using TCB or Quidco, just Holland and Barratt.
