DFS 0% Finance loan through Barclays. Approved?
Hi all,
First post.
Myself and my partner visited DFS this Sunday 13/09/15 to enquire about purchasing a suite through finance. After sitting down with the salesman for what seemed an eternity we went ahead with the application, 3.5 years interest free credit with a deposit of £150 - It came out at £35 a month with the delivery and stain guard package included. We discussed my partners low credit score - not due to anything negative on his history at all but because he'd only ever had a couple of mobile contracts, utility bills, a small personal loan and one payday loan in his entire life in terms of credit. We we're told this would not be an issue. We iterated that if finance is declined there is no other alternative to pay, again we we're told not to worry.
I have been stressing out over it because upon reading the terms and conditions it appears we will have to pay the cash on delivery if the credit is declined or find a guarantor to run checks through their details. This is not an option.
Anyway, tonight (Monday, 14/9/15), my partner received a text from DFS saying 'Your DFS credit application has been approved. We're ready to start work on your order and will keep you updated on its progress'. I just can't find any excitement as I am still worrying about the worst case scenario. I guess I am posting here to ask if anyone has recently applied for finance through DFS and if the text message is as positive as it seems, or should we just wait for the cold, hard evidence in writing from Barclays (the loan provider).
Many thanks.

My experience of DS suggests you will be ok. You have been approved. Just make sure you keep up payments so it is interest free. If you default they hit you with interest for the whole period.Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

Different credit products have different 'thresholds' in order to be approved.
For example it is much much easier to get a mobile phone contract than a mortgage.(obviously we all intinctively know this is the case)
DFS are well known for having low thresholds so you will be fine.£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000

Still not heard anything other than the text from DFS on Monday. No credit searches have appeared on noddle as of yet...0

why would you need any further communication from them?
they state your application has been approved and they are working on your order, no doubt you'll get an email once the thing has been 'built' to arrange a delivery time / date.
where is the issue? are you suggesting that they have lied about the finance being approved?
and noddle is updated monthly, no searched will show until its gets updated.0 -
they wont contact you until closer to the time of delivery, which, if I remember correctly could be 6 weeks.
and as for the quality of the sofas, I have two from 8 or so years ago, which have been through several house moves, and two young children and still not looking too bad.0 -
Thanks.
That's all I was posting for; someone who had been through the motions before. I appreciate it.
Don't understand why some people feel the need to write attitude riddled comments on forums!0
