Good on you
Friends of mine are doing the Dryathlon for Cancer Research which is September, fair play to them - I,m on a mega diet at the mo, so the thought of a glass of wine on a Friday is my 'treat', so gave it a miss this time.
Hope you do it, as you said good all round xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
I should, but I know I have a very stressful month coming up so I know I will fail. Good luck though.0

On reflection, I have been pretty miserable since May - perhaps connected?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I gave up for Lent and by the end (is it 6 weeks?) was surprised at not really fancying that glass of cool crisp white. When it did end, I didn't drink for months and then had a brandy toddy one time for an upset stomach or flu or something. Since then I have the occasional glass of wine and twice I have had two......but didn't feel great with it. It has made me think that you probably need near more than a month to really get the benefit. Also, it makes you find other 'coping mechanisms' and you have to face things rather than dulling them a bit. One good thing was practising mindfulness and thinking ah panic or ah anger, it will pass.
Good luck to all those doing sober October :-)0 -
Hi,
I decided to not drink from just before Christmas last year until the end of January. I ended up not drinking for quite a while after that but then for some reason had the odd beer here and there. I don't like it anywhere near as much as I used to and feel a bit yuck whenever I do, so yes, sober October sounds great!0 -
I'm doing the sober for October challenge again this year. I did it last year, successfully, with hubby but he's chickening out this time around because he just won't go to a pub/restaurant/party and not drink alcohol.0
