new job at m local help needed

Sticky situation..... i applied for a team leader job at m local last month and found out i was successful, during the phone call i was told that M Local will be sold off but your job is still guaranteed and will be sent over to the new my local business.....

How safe do you think the job is in terms off store closures?

I need to hand my notice in tomorrow at mt current job but dont want to end up being redundant in 6 months time....

Morrisons are assuming that they can sell off the stores as a going concern. No guarantee of that at all especially as they are announcing job losses and not TUPE for the staff

Without knowing the location of the store, and the local competition, it's impossible to say how safe the job might be. In our local area a M Local was opened a couple of hundred yards from an M&S food store and less than half a mile from 2 co-ops. It also only has about a dozen parking spaces. That one I can see closing.
  • This one is in a town centre next door to poundland..... tescos up the road and waitrose moving in next year.

The only good thing is that i can see the £1 shops and discounters starting to suffer from the start off next year as consumers start to feel relaxed with wage increases and inflation coming down progressively..... could be wrong lol....

Look what happened when Kwiksave was sold off by Somerfield, the new company soon went down hill. And when UGO bought some of the Netto stores from ASDA. These unestablished companies that buy out food chains don't seem to last long.
