Will the smarties bleed if I decorate the cake tonight?

I wonder if you can help.
My daughter would like her name spelt out on her cake in smarties of the same colour and then cover the rest of the cake in a rainbow of the other colours.
Her party is tomorrow morning, so really need to get the cake done tonight.
Will the smarties bleed or go soft if I do them tonight? They are going on to a chocolate cake with a butter cream icing.
Thanks for your advice

Don't want to read and run. I'm not sure, but I don't think I'd risk it. You might end up with pretty puddles0

I'm pretty sure I've had a disaster with smarties and buttercream a few years back - I'm sorry I know you're not hoping for this answer but don't risk it. xStarted my MFW journey in August 14 : £103,650

I would reckon so. Maybe pick the Smarties out and prepare the buttercream tonight (keep in fridge in piping bag or sandwich bag) to do quickly before serving tomorrow.0
