Aberdeen hasn't crashed.
Down 4.9% in the last 12 months after rising 14% the previous year alone.
That's certainly not a crash.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Still seems expensive to me.
Those flats were 350 in 2007.Were you really expecting rents to "soar" Hamish
This thread is the national rents thread.
And nationally rents have indeed soared.
If you want to discuss Aberdeen rents there's a thread for that.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

450 p.m seems to be where Aberdeen landlords with basic flats are clustering in their panic to get tenants, although anything with the bed in the living room isn`t worth even that, my last flat in Edinburgh went up to 450 p.m (from 400) for about the last year of a seven year run, but that was one bed and a box-room, plus large kitchen and living room. Were you really expecting rents to "soar" Hamish, or did you just get carried away when you were watching LLL re-runs or something?
Wow 3 rooms for £450...... My mortgage costs the same and I get 3 bedrooms. Kitchen, dining room, living room, large vestibule and landing (probably bigger than your bedroom).... bathroom, utility room and large semi converted attic. I really screwed up when I decided to buy.... Crashy, you're blatantly a genius (or psychopath).
Edited as I noticed you linked a grotty bedsit...... if this is your idea of a comfortable life then we are clearly on different planets. No wonder you're so upset.0 -

So you will have paid your mortgage off then before the bank increases your monthly rent?0 -

BTW Crashy.... that was the only flat available to rent at £450.... all others in AB11 are marketed at a higher rental price...... no wonder you feel sick, paying those sorts of prices for those sort of dives. You've been dealt a poor hand and you've played it very badly. Now get on with your life and stop crying at those who've played their hand like a royal flush.0 -

Its quite possible that my mortgage will increase in cost but my fix is due up in 12 months and the rates available at present are even better than what we are currently paying.... so things are looking good for us. As are first child is due in a couple of weeks we will be looking at a nice long fix. We've over paid enough that we could fix for 5 yrs and have less than £40k left to pay.... so unless interest rates increase to crazy rates 30%+ region. We are going to be laughing all the way to the bank.I'm sure you will congratulate us on our financial success.

I've just completed a little market research for you Crashy. There are 237 1 bed Edinburgh based flats listed on rightmove, 9 of them are listed @ £450pcm. Bare in mind I have no idea how many are central or on the outskirts. So that's only 3.8% available on the market @£450..... its lucky you are able to get your rental properties from the back of a rag that no one else has access to. :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

"Clustering" around 450? :rotfl:
There are 158 one bed flats available in Aberdeen.
Only 6 are under 450pm, almost all of which are unfurnished or they're actually studio flats and not one beds.
A further 27 are between 450pm and 500pm.
The remaining 125 are between 500 pm and 995 pm with the median being around 600.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
