Bank loan for a mobile home
Hi, I live in a static caravan for 45 weeks of the year and at the end of next year I need to buy a new one. My bank keeps sending me letters saying I could borrow £30,000 provisionally but would they lend the money knowing I live in a caravan ? I do have a property which I rent out ( owned for 25 years ) Would really appreciate any advice, thanks

Why not ring them up and ask - the worst is that they might say no?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

We took out a bank loan to buy the boat we now live on with no issues what so ever.0

Can you tell me which bank keeps sending you letters offering you £30,000 unsecured loans?
Are you on the electoral roll at the caravan address or elsewhere?0 -
Thanks guys. The bank is Barclays and I have been with them for 30 years so I presume they have a good record of my account and what they are willing to offer me. Sounds promising that they would lend money to buy a boat to live on but my concern is that the caravan is my home address with Barclays and it is not officially classed as a permanent address so perhaps that could affect any loan applications0

The loan details also come up on my internet banking so I presumed it must be personalised ? A few months ago it was £25,0000

Somewhere it will say subject to status. But I am not questioning your eligibility or ability to repay.
I was thinking that if they have accepted the caravan as your home address and you are on the electoral roll there, the caravan is your home you are therefore a homeowner as you own the caravan (and your real home as well so no lie is being told), perhaps they will never actually realise that it is a caravan if you don't tell them?0
